This week we’ll be learning from the church in Philadelphia, the church who held fast to the words of Christ with patient endurance. May we also hold fast to God’s word, come what may. This week our songs focus on God’s reign, His majesty in every sphere of creation, and the comfort He gives us through Christ.
Check out what we’ll be singing:
1. God You Reign - Lincoln Brewster
Psalm 931:1a says, “The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty.” It’s hard to wrap our minds around it, but the Lord has always existed. That is something that will never change! He rules and reigns the whole universe, from the smallest microbe to the largest star. We’ll start our service by worshipping Him, remembering these attributes, and being encouraged that He has everything under control!
2. How Great Thou Art - Traditional (arr. by Paul Baloche)
Continuing in our singing, we’ll carry on with this theme of God’s greatness and majesty by singing one of the most beloved hymns of all time. When we look at creation, when we look at the cross, and when we look to the future it should stir up our souls to sing with joy - how great Thou art!
3. Blessed be Your Name - Matt Redman
Our last two songs of the morning will focus on God’s comfort, grace and sovereignty during suffering. Through good times and bad, through joys and sorrows, we must give praise to the Lord knowing that we don’t suffer without reason. It’s for our good and growth in Jesus!
4. Our Great Savior - Traditional
This great hymn was written by John Wilbur Chapman in 1910. He was a great evangelist on the east coast who worked with D.L. Moody and others. They hymn speaks of the comfort we receive from Jesus - He is our friend, our guide, our strength, and our Savior. Hallelujah, what a friend!
5. Give Me Faith - Elevation Worship
We’ll close out our service being reminded of our great need for the Lord. He knows our weaknesses, and promises to give us faith throughout our lives if we walk with Him and feed off of His word. He is good!
