Preparing for Sunday - October 22, 2017

Hey Shoreliners!

It was such a privilege to teach last Sunday, I trust that our study of Mary’s song was encouraging and challenging for you! This week we’ll be back in Ecclesiastes, continuing in chapter seven. Let’s come ready to learn and ready to sing!

Check out the songs we’ll be singing this week:

1.   How Can I Keep from Singing - Chris Tomlin

When we contemplate our salvation and what Christ has done for us, it brings great joy to our hearts! This song communicates that fact really well and echoes Psalm 30:12 “that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.”

2.   Hosanna (Praise is Rising) - Paul Baloche

As we continue to sing, we’ll move from praising God for His love for us, to praising Him for the work of salvation. We sing “hosanna” as a shout of praise for the work of salvation the Lord did in our hearts, and continues to do around the world. He is worthy of all praise!

3.   Come Thou Fount of Ev'ry Blessing - Traditional (arr. by David Crowder)

This well beloved hymn reminds us of God’s great grace in our lives. He is faithful to “tune our hearts to sing thy grace”. We are “prone to wander”, but He is faithful to “seal our hearts” and to carry us “safely home by His good grace.” Amen!

4.   All I have is Christ - Sovereign Grace Music

Last week, we looked at the example of Mary - how she was humble and understood that she was a sinner before God. We were reminded to remember our history with Christ, and what He has done in our lives. This song communicates that so well!

5.   Come Lord Jesus (Even so Come) - Passion

In our study of Ecclesiastes, we are reminded in every chapter how everything this world has to offer is vanity. This should make us all the more ready for Christ’s return - what a great way to end our service by singing “Lord Jesus, come!”
